This rather ancient aircraft, dating back to 220 AD, was invented in China, to allow some military communications.

But it was only in 1793 that the first hot air balloon took flight with a crew of people: it happened in France, thanks to two brave brothers, called Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier!

The main feeling that inspired us in this Le Mongolfiere Collection was freedom, the desire to travel and discover new things.

Unlike the airplane, already present in some of our subjects, the hot air balloon is very influenced by the winds: traveling aboard a hot air balloon therefore means surrendering to the will of the wind, because there are no piloting tools capable of counteracting it.

With our Hot Air Balloons we also want to represent innocence and lightheartedness, thinking back to when as children, we had so much fun depicting hot air balloons, each different from the other, flying freely in the sky. As the main melody of the collection, we could only choose "Around the wold in 80 days".

In fact, a good part of the covers of Around the World in 80 Days, by Jules Verne, feature hot air balloons.

What could be more fitting? We hope, therefore, that our hot air balloons convey to you the same sensation of lightness and well-being that we feel while we decorate and assemble them.

And that, watching them turn, you too let yourself go on this beautiful journey, carried by the wind of their melody.
